When did St. Valentine drop in Ghana?

Valentine day is a few days away.. I do not understand why there is so much hype about this day. For chrissake am in Ghana!! When did Saint Valentine come to this tropical zone and start matching up couples..  Anyways, I have been already to a wedding of a close family friend, have been asked countless times if I had a boyfriend and to crown it all I am part of  my church's youth commitee. And, we are organizing a Valentines dinner where everyone can socialize, munch on some tit bits and get advice from young married couples.
Why are girls are made to believe in happy endings? My mum told me that I was a fan of Cinderella and I constantly begged her to buy me princess like dresses. In fairytales, fate always manages to  bring two individuals who are destined to be together. But does it really happen in real life?
These past weeks I have been hearing so much of depressing things concerning relationships, from sugar daddies, abortions and women going through all manner of surgeries or medications to enhance their boobs or the buttocks. It's absolutely ridiculous!
African girls should stay true to ourselves we are African queens our culture is different from the west. Our definition of beauty is what we refer to 'coca cola shaped' enough flesh at the right places. We are women of virtue; hardworkers, providers, mothers and sisters. Love doesn't dwell only on the physical it is way more than that. Finally because am less experienced in the relationship/love department am just going to end with a bible verse that sums it all. That's what am expecting from my Mr. Right.
Corinthians 13:4    Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
